Teulada Moraira

'The Jewel in the Costa Blanca Crown'

Teulada Moraira

Teulada-Moraira

Teulada-Moraira is an attractive town on the Costa Blanca. With a unique character, great restaurants, perfect beaches and over 320 days of sun each year, it’s no wonder Teulada-Moraira is so popular.

This pretty little village was originally populated by 52 old Christian families dedicated to the production of Muscatel grapes and raisins. In honour of the patron saint; St. Catalina, the families built a beautiful late-Gothic church. The families worked as fisherman in nearby Moraira and in fear of pirate attacks they turned Teulada into a walled village.

Noticeable is the fact that unlike many other resorts along the coast, Moraira has not forgotten its roots. Although it has grown into one of the most popular destinations on the Costa Blanca, it has not sold-out to the tourist boom and isn’t plagued by the high-rise buildings and overcrowding of other resorts. Today both agriculture and fishing have given way to the tourism industry.

Teulada-Moraira is known as the most exclusive and pleasant place to stay whilst on holiday on the Costa Blanca, perhaps in Spain. Wisely, it has retained, the charm of a small picturesque fishing town nestled between mountains and vineyards but has also sensibly developed to provide a fantastic holiday experience whatever the budget and taste.

A huge variety of restaurants and bars are on offer and cater for every budget and taste, whether it be traditional Spanish cuisine in Spanish surroundings or international cuisine like Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Italian or even just egg & chips, then Teulada-Moraira offers it all in style.

The two main beaches comprise clean golden sand and are nestled in attractive bays. Swimming here is safe and pleasant and the beach is a relatively un-crowded place to be even in the peak of summer and cleaned daily. Teulada-Moraira’s main beach is situated right next to the town centre with convenient pedestrian walkways and a park area meaning that it is not necessary to cross any roads to get to the town or the marina from the beach.

Teulada-Moraira goes Social

Residents and visitors to Teulada and Moraira on the Costa Blanca can now take advantage of developments in social media to stay on top of news and events in the area.

The Mayor of Teulada-Moraira has announced that the Town Hall has created a Facebook page – Ayuntamiento de Teulada and a Twitter page – AytoTeulada

The Mayor has stated the importance of enabling people to communicate in many new and different ways.

Both pages will be updated regularly and the Mayor wishes to reach as many people as possible – hence this blog post!

Additionally and excitingly for those who work on the move (such as this post author!), the council is to provide free WiFi in Teulada town square and from the castle in Moraira.

As well as serving its public and tourists, the council hopes to demonstrate its ‘Green IT’ credentials. By communicating in this way, the council hopes to reduce the paper it uses and help the environment.

Good on you, council. keep up the good work..

Teulada Moraira Hotels

I have loved coming back and forth to Teulada Moraira for over 10 years.  For the first few years, I rented villas and apartments, but for the last 6 or 7 years I have chosen to stay in some of the very fine Teulada Moraira hotels that Teulada Moraira has to offer.

TeuladaMorairaHotels

Unlike many other towns along the Costa Blanca, Teulada and Moraira have avoided the large building programmes that have turned some towns into concrete jungles. Accordingly, Teulada Moraira only has a handful of hotels. But you should judge this town on the quality and not the quantity of the hotels. Each has its own character and style and all provide a fantastic base from which to explore the coast.

Guadalest – The number one attraction on the Costa Blanca

El Castell de Guadalest, or Guadalest for short, is one of the most interesting and beautiful pueblos in Spain. Perched atop a mountain, with breathtaking views across the valley and down to the Guadalest River from which the town takes its name, the picturesque, white-washed pueblo of Guadalest is a stunning location and is one of the hidden gems of the Marina Alta region on the Costa Blanca, Spain.

Moraira Car Hire

Arriving in Teulada Moraira, you can be forgiven for thinking: ‘That’s it. We’ve arrived’, and planning to park the car and not get back into it until the cases are loaded and the drive back to the airport beckons. And that would be okay, such is the town with its cobbled streets, fine architecture, modern bars and superb restaurants. But, you should use your car to explore the other fine towns and villages, attractions and activities this wonderful coastline has to offer.

There are many car hire companies on the Costa Blanca, most have offices located in the arrivals halls at the airports where it is often be very busy and hectic.  Where possible, it is advisable to make your booking in advance of travelling to help speed up the process. Some companies, such as VictoriaCars have their office in the car-park where you pick your car up from. This saves a lot of time.

Follow me for details on great, local car hire companies.

In choosing a car hire company, there are a number of considerations:

BOOK in advance. Spain is very busy in the summer. Do not leave you car hire rental until the last minute.

CHECK what’s included in the car hire price. Most include insurance, local taxes and unlimited mileage. Some don’t

CHECK you car hire for damage before you leave the airport. It maybe that the previous hirer scratched or damaged the car. If you fail to report this before you leave the airport, the rental company may hold you responsible.

CONFIRM the car has air-conditioning. You will need it.

CONFIRM the excesses. Some car hire companies fees seem very cheap, but they have very high insurance excesses. Make sure you know what they are before agreeing to the hire. It may seem like a good deal to get a 50€ deal for a week, but if a simple bump causes you to have to pay 500€ excess?

DECIDE what your real needs are. Is it best to go for the cheapest, only to find you can’t fit your cases in. The cheapest is rarely the best.

ENSURE the car is safe and secure. Do you need child seats? You should take your own. You can never be certain of the condition of the child seats provided until you see them. It is too late then

ENSURE you book a diesel. It is much cheaper in Spain
